Key Features
Once set up, which is easy as the Reebok ZR9 treadmill comes 90% assembled, the LCD screen is the first feature noticed. The lit-up blue background with large white numbers is a pleasing contrast which is easy to read for anyone. The 2 horsepower motor allows you to run at a continuous speed up of to 10 mph with programmes specific to weight loss and mountain climbing whilst also, if required, allowing you to run a set of sprints thanks to the opportunity of bursts up to 3 horsepower. Despite this, the Reebok ZR9 has a low volume which comes at a plus if you don’t want to annoy your neighbours. Although if you enjoy listening to music while you work out this mid-high range treadmill has two built-in speakers allowing you to connect your music player such as a mobile phone to the treadmill via an aux cable which is often provided.

Ease of use
The simple design of this mid-high range treadmill dashboard makes reading the instruction manual unnecessary. All the main features can be activated by one single touch of a button and in the occasion that you do get stuck the feedback panel itself displays each programme with clear instructions. The treadmill includes 14 workout programmes in total: 3 for weight loss, 3 warm-ups, 3 aerobics, 3 mountain climbs, 1 manual and even 1 body fat test, meaning there will always be something new to try.
Technology
This treadmill has the option of 12 different levels of incline as well as the ZigTech cushioning system which helps to manage the forces caused by your foot connecting to the ground. The zig-shaped cushion will absorb impact and will instead send a shockwave along the running deck in order to get rid of high levels of energy. This means there will be less stress in your glutes, hamstrings and shins. The ZR9 will also monitor your heart rate thanks to the pulse sensor located on the handlebars.
Design
The Reebok ZR9 has a maximum weight of 120kg and when assembled is 168 x 85 x 132cm which is both longer and wider than many other treadmills meaning it is perfect for either walking, running or sprinting. When folded it measures 105 x 85 x 12 cm and is mounted on wheels but the 91 kg weight makes it rather hard to move. The treadmill itself is black in colour with splashes of red to give it more character and make it more aesthetically pleasing. There are also two bottle holders located on the frame of the treadmill that can also be used as a phone/mp3 holder.

The Folding Treadmill APP control S7 uses a hydraulic shock to help you to fold and unfold the treadmill whereas the Reebok ZR9 offers no assistance in this. Similar to the Reebok ZR9 this treadmill uses a cushion based damping system to reduce the risk of injury. However, this only appears in 4 zones whereas the Reebok RZ9 offers it across the whole platform meaning if you are looking to use this treadmill regularly the ZR9 may be better suited to you. This treadmill has a slower maximum speed of 8.6mph compared to the ZR9’s top speed of 10mph but it does give you the ability to have your own personal trainer in the form of an app. For more money, this treadmill may not be worth it when compared to the ZR9 unless you are looking for that extra bit of motivation through the app.

The Sportstech F10 Treadmill is very similar to the Reebok ZR9 for a much cheaper price. However, the treadmill only offers 1 horsepower compared to the ZR9’s 3 horsepower which means the top speed is 4 mph less than the Reebok ZR9. Included with the Sportstech F10 are the same number of preprogrammed programs that come with the RZ9 as well as an app compatible console called iFitShow which, by using your smartphone or tablet, allows you to control the treadmill including features such as the music being played, your individual training history as well as any training goals you may have. The Sportstech F10 would be better suited for beginners.

Smaller than the Reebok ZR9 the PremierFit T100 offers many of the features of the ZR9 for a much smaller cost. There are 12 built-in exercise programs and 3 manual programs accessible through a large easy to follow LED display. With an industry-recommended 4% incline, the top speed sitting at just 6 mph is nowhere near the Reebok ZR9. Including a built-in iPad holder to watch films or TV programs whilst you exercise this treadmill would be best suited for the beginner who gets easily distracted whilst working out.

The Reebok ZR9 is an excellent treadmill for the extra bit of cash compared to other mid-high range treadmills. The Z-series Reebok has been providing since 2011 is a perfect example of this as even today they are still a highly popular range of treadmills to invest in. Not only is it stylish, it offers a higher top speed than similar treadmills as well as providing the technology needed to reduce the risk of injury.
